Sponsored Row (no, not an argument - "row" as in canoeing!)
Can you spot who's in the Canoe?
On Saturday 7th October a number of brave (or should that be foolhardy?) Cathedral parishioners put caution to the wind to participate in sponsored canoeing around the island of Enniskillen. The town centre is surrounded entirely by water, making it possible to navigate the mile-long route in Canadian canoes. The purpose of the event was to raise money towards the installation of a new visual display system in the Cathedral. The team headed out in pairs throughout the day, usually with two canoes on the river at any one time. Thankfully almost every pair managed to stay afloat - with one noticeable exception - all is revealed in the photos! Many thanks to everyone who supported the event, particularly Ronnie Carson who organised the day, and Raymond Campbell who operated the safety boat. We are pleased to show here a selection of the many photographs taken that day. Captions on some of them are by Rev. Ian Linton and Amanda Irvine....
I wish I had gone in the canoe with Jake
Come on, Captain George - row, row, row your boat!
Canoeing? I thought
they said canoodling... come back!
Women and children
first? Stuff that! Get me
out of here Ronnie!
George, if you don't do all my churchwarden duties, then Mytle gets it!
David, can I go out with you
next time? George capsized
the boat...I told him to sit
stil, but Man.United scored
a goal, for once.
Don't worry, Myrtle's
going to get it!
Isn't that the film where the bloke drowns?!!!
Yes, but it's sooo romantic!
Oh George, it's just like being in the cast of Titanic...you hunk!
Ronnie was eaten by
a shark this big!
That was my ear
you just hit!
But the shark was no match for me -
I got Ronnie back - reluctantly!
Has Norman
covered us for this
sort of thing?
Hahahahahaha
Come on Ronnie
...we'll race ya!
Heeheehee...
